Refurbishments

What is a Refurb?

A refurb (short for refurbishment) is the process of renovating and updating an existing room or property to make it modern, functional, and more valuable, without a full demolition or rebuild.

Frequently Asked Questions

We hope this page provides clear and helpful answers for those considering a loft conversion who may have numerous questions about the process; we are here to make your decision as straightforward and informed as possible.

1

What types of refurbishments do you specialise in?

We specialise in full house refurbishments, complete property makeovers, period property restoration, loft conversions, and all types of cosmetic updates including painting, flooring, new electrics, plumbing, and general internal improvements. We deliver high-quality transformations tailored to your home’s needs.

2

How long does a typical house refurbishment take?

Timelines depend on the project scope. A cosmetic refresh usually takes 2–6 weeks, a full kitchen or bathroom renovation 6–12 weeks, and a complete house refurbishment 3–9 months. We provide a detailed, realistic programme after our initial site survey.

3

Do I need planning permission or building regulations approval?

Most internal refurbishments and cosmetic changes don’t require planning permission. However, loft conversions, structural alterations and external changes often do. We manage the entire process, including applications and approvals, on your behalf.

4

How much does a full house refurbishment cost?

Costs vary by property size, specification and location. As a rough guide (South East, 2025–2026 prices): cosmetic refresh £40–£80 per sq ft, mid-range full refurbishment £100–£180 per sq ft, luxury/high-end £180–£300+ per sq ft. We provide accurate fixed quotations after survey. Contact us for a free no-obligation quote.

5

Will I need to move out during the refurbishment?

For cosmetic or partial refurbishments many clients stay in the property. For major structural work, full rewires or whole-house projects we usually recommend temporary accommodation. We discuss options and can help arrange this during the quotation stage.

6

How do you manage dust, mess and disruption?

We take dust and mess control seriously. We use dust screens, protective sheeting and a strict clean-as-you-go policy. We also arrange a full professional clean on project completion.

7

Do you offer fixed prices or can costs change?

We work on a fixed-price basis wherever possible. After the design and specification stage we agree a clear, fixed quotation. Any client-requested changes are priced as separate variations so you always know where you stand.
